Former Cabinet Minister of Defence, Dr Liam Fox MP, spent several years working a civilian doctor with the families of armed forces personnel. He began to appreciate the difficulties families got into when one of the parents went abroad on a long tour of duty. One day he thought, “why not ask people with holiday homes or hotels with spare rooms to make them available to families who desperately needed to re-acquaint themselves.” And so the charity Give Us Time was born.

For something you’re not using, giving to people who desperately need it is a simple principle, and one that has seen the charity go on to be recognised as the Forces Community Service winner 2021.
