LEST WE FORGET.

Royal British Legion

Information:

The UK has suffered almost three million military and civilian fatalities in wars since the First World War began in 1914. Every year the nation honours those who have died and been injured in the service of their Country so what better way than to drop three million poppies from two World War Two Dakota DC3 Aircraft along the length of the Thames in Central London. With flights at City Airport suspended to let the DC3s through, Aircraft en route to Heathrow diverted, the London Eye lit red for the very first time and giant poppies projected on the Shell Building the event took place. Going Live into “BBC News at Six” and permissions from no less than 19 authorities agreed this mammoth organisational task was complex, difficult yet incredibly rewarding.
